Tandem IVF cycle uses both patient’s eggs as well as donor eggs. A tandem IVF cycle is a conventional IVF cycle. Women who produce low-quality eggs, which may or may not fertilize opt for a tandem cycle.
The patient and donor in line begin the stimulation process at the same time so egg collection can occur at the same time. The eggs are then collected from both the donor and patient, and are then injected with the partner`s sperm to fertilise.
Patients undergoing a tandem cycle are aware that their own eggs are not as healthy and have a chance not to fertilise so the donor is a back-up plan. Implantation has a chance to take place, with either their own eggs, donor eggs or a mixture of both.
